The Eternal Chatter in Your Head
There’s an eternal chatter inside your skull. It wants you to fail. It compares and whines and judges. It keeps you from doing cool things like starting a band, traveling, wearing cool clothes, working out…approaching beautiful girls.
Some call him Ego. Some call it being, “Unconscious.”
I call it being really fucking lame. Excuse my French.
We’re all guilty here. He wants you to fail because he’s a needy, self serving little bastard. He needs you alive. The more you hide behind his seductive voice (the thoughts you think are yours,) the longer he’ll survive.
You won’t put yourself in dangerous situations. You won’t destroy the Illusion he’s created. He won’t mess with your Identity.
He says thing like, “Approaching girls is creepy,” and “I hope nobody hears you,” and “Don’t do that cool thing you want to do, it’s hard, and I’m safe and lazy. Let’s get fat and retarded YO!”
Once you’re aware of the Eternal Virgin (my phrase for ego) you can control him. You don’t need to hear his greasy lies telling you that you’re, “ugly, stupid, bald, boring, poor, uneducated, and you should STAY IN YOUR PLACE…and Give Up.”
One of the things he’s most afraid of is Social Pressure; because social pressure can create danger. We don’t want you becoming the Next Osama, or Gandhi, or Elvis. Ouch! Yeah…they’re dead!
A friend recently told me, “We’re designed to succeed, programmed to fail.”
I’m watching The Canucks kick San Jose’s ass right now. They’re almost there…the BIG cup! People marvel at their training, their skill, their fame and money and power. But what REALLY got them there?
BELIEF and FOCUS and DEDICATION
And maybe even a little bit of self awareness. Most pro athletes are not big dumb jocks. Some of them read books, most of them study self development, self-help…the concepts are the same. You can’t listen to your ego if you want the cup, or the girl of your dreams.
BUT THE GIRL OF YOUR DREAMS IS TOO GOOD FOR YOU
She’s pretty, intelligent, educated, well read, a great dancer with perfect imperfections. Trust me…you want THIS girl. And if you don’t understand ego and how to become present in THE NOW…she will never be yours.
The Eternal Virgin wants you to read her mind. She’s a bitch, she’s cold, she’s too cool, she isn’t nice and won’t like or be nice to you.
You aren’t psychic. I’m sorry. Not yet. Maybe with the aid of technology…Twitter version 3000. Thought Twitter. Then you will finally get laid….ahhhh. Not worried about the ex anymore. Thank GOD.
Most people are nice and warm and friendly. If you talk to them, they’ll engage you. If you’re calm and collected or even better…fun and funny!
When that little voice tells you that trying to approach, tease, hug, kiss, squeeze, fondle, bang bang….will fail. But here’s the trick to defeat the insecure wimp within….when you hear that nagging little voice you simply…..
