I Only Wish I Could Do It Every Month
I spent the weekend of Oct 15-17 doing Tony’s bootcamp – Friday night, Saturday day and night, and Sunday afternoon to be exact. Anybody who reads the boards here on the Montreal Lair knows that Tony has a free-associative, poetic, natural style of writing, and his posts are consistently among the most insightful here. His bootcamp is exactly the same. Loose and fun, yet straightforward and (sometimes brutally) honest.
I did most of the camp with Apollo. It speaks to Tony’s commitment to his clients’ personal growth that he only takes two at a time. He wants to observe you in set, whisper or use code words to give advice, and sometimes interject if he feels it needs to be pulled a certain way (eg. You’ve miscalibrated the teasing and he wants you to ground the conversation by toning it down and asking the girl some logical rapport-building questions). I was incredibly impressed with how quickly Tony got a feel for who I am, my comfort zone, and my style of game. Apollo and I are polar opposites in some ways -he loves clubbing and kino while my strength is rapport building during the day- so it’s another testament to Tony’s knowledge and ability to teach that he provided insights and pushed both of us.
Tony’s style is to go direct, do some push-pull and kino, and above all give value. He emphasized for night game to make friends with everyone, male and female, and whether day or night, to keep it fun. Outcomes are unimportant. In my words, the outcomes you want will come on their own when you offer fun and adventure.
Okay, let’s get to the nitty-gritty of what I achieved during the camp. Two sets in particular stand out, one each during the day and night, both of them solid number closes. Eaton Centre, Saturday afternoon: I was doing approaches and while, as mentioned, I consider myself pretty good at daygame, I had never gone direct. It turned out to be extremely liberating. Tony picked a hired gun at a counter on the concourse to open. I started joking about her merchandise, turning the conversation sexual, but then pulling back and building some comfort. Tony helped wing me through much of this. By chance, I saw her again in another side mall where I built some more comfort, and later returned to her booth, told her I was bouncing and got her number. Texted her that same late afternoon before the night session, build some more comfort, and had a Day 2 with her this past Saturday; I’ve linked the FR below. (Call her HBVero.)
Night game: Wow am I nervous about club game. Tony instructed us to warm up (& stay social) by talking to everyone. Well, eventually I was feeling very comfortable and opened a couple girls at the bar. Two hot brunettes sitting talking together, but not in a tight-knit, intense way. They were very receptive. Tony told me after I had good instincts, as he was just about to tell me to open them. Turns out I opened them for the whole group, too, as Tony and later Apollo joined me, and Apollo number closed the girl I didn’t focus on. I stayed in this set a long time, having a great chat that was alternately flirty and rapport-building. Then Tony told me to move my target to the dance floor. Tony continued to discretely give me instructions because frankly my dance game/dance floor escalation is pretty brutal. But I made breakthroughs with many aspects of night game that night, and Tony gave me advice on how to continue to improve. This girl answered my “hello” text and a later text inviting her to Boustan at the end of the night right away. Unfortunately, my ego fucked things up the next time I tried to get in touch, but Tony gave me great feedback there as well and I’ve since re-established contact.
Between this was tons of great interactions with guys and girls which included a tall blonde buying me a shot in front of her boyfriend (who I’d already given props to with “your girlfriend has great style” and a fistbump), and a retail hired gun commenting how rare it was for guys to display the confidence I do, and while she had a bf and couldn’t give me her number, without asking, she told me she was also a bartender and rattled off the nights she worked.
Tony’s bootcamp is not just about approaches, although it’s all infield. He also sits down for review, and in my case took me to try on clothes, which was really above and beyond the call of duty. His bootcamp is about confidence, becoming more comfortable in your own skin, thinking about what you want now and in the future, how to get there… and yeah, a dose of fashion advice.
I only wish I could do it every month.
I want to preserve the confidentiality of Tony’s methods as much as possible, but at one point during the Saturday night, he told me and Apollo his philosophy about winging and jealousy. Simply put, there is no jealousy. Your wing’s a cool guy, and your target’s a cool chick, so it’s natural that they will like each other too. This reflects Tony’s overall down-to-earth nature and ego-free pickup philosophy. He takes only two clients at a time because he cares and wants to be there for you the whole time.
But it’s the results I’ve had since that speak the most to what Tony can do for you.
