#metoo

I’ve thought about this Harvey Weinstein controversy for a few days, and here’s my opinion:

Welcome to Hollywood:

land of narcissism, vanity, predation, pedophilia and satanism.

I work in the film industry too, and when I talk to wanna be actresses, I usually have one comment: “I’m sorry.” It gets a laugh.

For wannabe actors, the odds of landing that coveted role that will launch you to stardom, is about one in a million.

For every actor (men and women) who won’t give a producer a rub-n-tug on the casting couch, there are a thousand who will. It’s not so much the men who prey on these actors aspirations, but the willingness of their prey, that enables the cycle.

My only hope is that this #metoo hysteria will shed a bit more light on the real problem of pedophilia in Hollywood, as pedophiles disgust me. But most likely it will just lead to a witch-hunt that will destroy the lives of normal, heterosexual men, further enabling the anti white-male, man-bashing trend of the 2000’s.

The whole affair comes down to the age old rules of attraction:

  1. Be attractive.
  2. Don’t be unattractive.

For every Weinsteinish creeper, there are men who act the same way: touching women without verbal consent, making crude sexual comments, crossing the line. Yet they are rewarded by women with sex and relationships. They are in the secret society.

Don’t believe me? Watch this video of Russel Brand breaking every #metoo rule in the book, (not including real assault which I never condone) and having women giggling in flirtatious delight.

Notice the inappropriate sexual comments, unsolicited touching, body-gazing, and blatant sexual objectification; all of which should create mass hashtag hysteria of #metoo. But you don’t hear a peep about Brand in the media. Why? Because he’s attractive, and has charm.

Russel has game.

Now watch this body language experts opinion on Weinstein. He comes as a guy who likely enjoys prostitutes, and attracts women through coercion, rather than charm. Though I don’t know the guy. I’ve only heard about him through the outrage machine, like everyone else. He’s very generous with his money and favors. He introduces his budding stars to other actors and powerful people, gives them tickets to high end events, and then makes his advances.

He kinda comes across like that devil in Legend, who seduces his princess with the promise of pleasure and power.

I have legitimate sympathy for women who deal with real sexual harassment.

But the social media outrages of the last few years have left most of rational society with deaf ears. It’s a classic case of the girl who cried wolf.

People just don’t give a shit anymore. With the threat of climate change, war, disease, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and terrorism, why should anyone give a hoot about elite celebrities sucking their fat producer’s dick for a new contract? Why when next week it will be a new feminist outrage, another #metoo hysteria?

Nothing will change. As long as there are men with power, there will be women willing to sit on their casting couch for a chance at 5 minutes.

My advice to young actresses: Make your own art. Get a camera, find a crew, buy or write a script and do it yourself. Then you won’t have to subject yourself to the Weinsteins of the world.

And men, don’t let the social media outrages shame you for being a man. You can still flirt intelligently with women. Just make sure you hit the gym, eat healthy, learn about humor, social psychology, and game. Be like Russel, not Weinstein.
